Why Am I Not Losing Weight Despite Exercising Regularly?

Experts agree that weight loss mainly relies on diet (80%) and only 20% on exercise.

This is because the daily calories that can be  reduced from exercise is a lot less than from changing one’s diet.

For example:

While exercise is still recommended for general health, it is not the most effective way to lose weight. Additionally, research has shown that overexercising can actually lead to slowed metabolism as the body makes compensatory changes.

Why Do Most Diets Fail?

You might have tried it all– the low-carb diet, the KETO diet, cutting out dinner…but still can’t seem to lose those pesky few kilos. Even if you did manage to lose some, it all came back eventually.

So why don’t ‘diets’ work for most people?

Our Difference

Case Study

Client B (female, 30s) had gained several kilos over the past two years. She had been actively trying to lose weight through exercising with a personal trainer over the past year, but has not experienced any weight loss.  She has not managed to find the motivation to make changes to her diet on her own. She often ‘stress-eat’ and skips meals when busy.

Her nutrition analysis revealed that her food choices were high in calories and saturated fats as well as sodium, which contributed to water retention. Her fibre and protein intakes were also inadequate (only 50% of her requirements).

    FAQ

What is the length and interval for the dietitian consultation sessions and where will they be held?

The consultations will be held at PULSE+ Allied Health Clinic  at Camden Medical Centre (Orchard Blvd MRT). Each consultation session is typically 45 – 60 minutes to be held at a monthly interval. Note that if you have travel plans or other matters,  the frequency of the session can be flexibly extended

    Why three sessions?

From our experience, a minimum of three sessions and at least three months is required to effectively work on weight loss goals.

Also, we find that after clients implement the meal plans for the first time, they often need some adjustments to the meal plan or support for unexpected challenges they encounter.

Clients who had come for lesser sessions tend to give up in the face of the challenges they encounter as they implement the plan or  lose motivation to stay with the program before reaching their goals.

If you end up needing  more sessions, they can also be added for an additional fee.

How do I prepare for my session with a dietitian?

Record a 3-day food diary before the session. This is a list of everything you are eating and drinking for the last 3 days, so that the dietitian is able to get an idea of your food habits and eating patterns.

Think about your goals and write out any questions that you would like to ask during your session.

I see that you also have a Dietitian + TCM weight management programme. Can I see a Dietitian first and then decide later if I would like to also see a TCM physician?

Yes, definitely. You can choose to add on a TCM consultation at any later stage. You can learn more about it from your dietitian and decide from there. Your dietitian will also help to point out if you have certain issues (e.g. slow metabolism) where also seeing a TCM physician can help your progress in the program.

What if I'm not sure yet if the program is right for me? Do you offer a trial?

We do not offer trials as we believe our programme is already of great value for its total price,  given that it includes one-to-one,  in-person support by a medical professional.

Many other weight loss programs packages out are often priced much higher despite a low, attractive trial price.

However, if you are not sure whether the programme is right for you, we would recommend trying out the first consultation first and then decide whether you’d like to go ahead with the program. If you decide to not continue, you can choose to pay for the session only at $130 (exclusive of GST).
